AlloLabs News and Views 9.28.09
I am so pleased to kick-off a column dedicated to the happenings in Research and Development (R&D) here at AlloSource, to share with you, our valued partners. I have led this department for over nine years, with the focus on implementing new and better ways to maximize the gift of tissue donation.
The last 18 months truly represent a new chapter in AlloSource’s commitment to being a leader in innovative research that helps our medical professionals and their patients. AlloLabs was launched in 2009 in a standalone location that offers our team the space and equipment to take on a host of new assignments. This plan became a reality because of the unwavering support from our President and CEO, Tom Cycyota and the confidence that our Board of Directors have in making long-term investments in the future of AlloSource.
Just to give you a snapshot of how we have expanded our capabilities since the move, we now have a fully functional microscopy lab where we can study cell behavior, histology equipment to better characterize our allograft products and most significantly a modular clean room, which allows us to process donors without interrupting Operations and their responsibility for the production of transplantable grafts.
We have embarked on the development of two truly innovative products using new sources of donated tissue never before recovered by AlloSource. These cutting-edge products will positively impact the quality of care to our patients.
I look forward to keeping you informed on AlloSource’s exciting R&D developments in future editions of the Allograph.
Simon Bogdansky
Vice President, R&D
