“Batkid” Saves the Day, Thanks to “Make-A-Wish” Granted by Hero Allograft  |  January 31, 2014

Inspired by the “Batkid” event held in November in San Francisco, the medical device company Spinal Elements planned an adventure for Aidden Whitsett over the last few weeks. Employees built sets, customized a car for Aidden, hired actors, and mapped out a route through their office.

Aidden was diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy, a degenerative muscle disease, two years ago. The San Diego chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation and Spinal Elements have arranged to grant Aidden’s wish of swimming with dolphins at the Atlantis resort in the Bahamas. Aidden, his parents, and his six siblings will all head out on their trip in April.

Spinal Elements is donating the net proceeds from its Hero Allograft spinal implant, made by AlloSource, to the Make-A-Wish Foundation and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
