Young Boy Receives Life-Saving Transplants  |  December 18, 2013

This moving story of a young heart and lung recipient highlights the wonderful work by our partners on the organ side of donation.

Seven-year-old Weston Keeton battled heart disease and pulmonary hypertension for most of his life and as a result, spent almost three years living in a hospital. Doctors told his parents that Weston’s only hope was a heart and double lung transplant. His family understood that the transplant waiting list in the United States has over 118,000 names. His parents also knew that the gift they needed would devastate another family, since Weston’s chance at survival depended on a child’s organ donation.
