Ovarian tissue transplant acts as Stork for Australian Couple  |  October 2, 2013

Congratulations are in order for Vali, an Australian woman, who is pregnant after growing new eggs in ovarian tissue transplanted into her abdomen. Vali and her husband had nearly given up on having children after believing she was infertile as a result of ovarian cancer treatment.

In an exciting twist, Vali is 26 weeks pregnant with twins after the successful transplant and industry experts see this innovative procedure as the next revolutionary method in fertility treatment.

The tissue transplant occurred at The Royal Women’s Hospital in Melbourne, Australia. The hospital team helped Vali grow egg follicles and produce two healthy eggs after transplanting her own frozen ovarian tissue into her abdomen.

Vali’s conception is a happy occasion and significant milestone in tissue transplantation.
