One medicine – how veterinary treatment can impact humans  |  September 6, 2013

We were fascinated by this video of veterinary Dr. Nichole Erhart  discussing “translational medicine,” or how research and medicine used to treat animals can translate into treatments for humans who have the same diseases, like cancer.

In Colorado, the Limb Preservation Foundation works with the Animal Cancer Center at Colorado State University to advance the science of limb preservation and the fight against bone cancer, which is something afflicting both dogs and humans. It’s exciting to think that the research dollars and efforts to treat human diseases like cancer will benefit not only us but our furry friends, and vice versa.

Check out Dr. Erhart’s video and vote for it if you like it. It is included in Mutual of Omaha’s “A-ha Moment” tour.
