A Trail of Thanks  |  November 26, 2012

When their daughter was born with a heart condition, the Stevens family anticipated years of worry and hardship. After numerous surgeries, their daughter’s situation grew desperate when she was just 10 years old.  She spent the following months in the hospital waiting for a new heart. In order to clear their minds, the Stevens parents would often go for a run in a park near the hospital.

Four years later, their daughter is healthy and thriving with a new heart.  Feeling grateful, the Stevens family felt they needed to give back to the donation community.  Realizing how much running helped them in their time of need, they started the Donate Life Nebraska Trail Run and Heroes Walk.  The run/walk is designed for the loved ones of those who need a transplant, or for the loved ones of heroes who have already donated.  Meet the Stevens family in the video below.
